This is a trip I did a while ago, but is one of my favourites! I had the opportunity to experience a Christmas travelling through Sweden and Finland!
It started with landing in the snow in Stockholm, Sweden, a landing that I will never forget, and first time I have seen luggage in the baggage reclaim area covered in snow!
Headed up to Kiruna where the temperature dropped to -17°C, but had a great time in the snow and had the chance to go on a dog sled and a snow mobile! Then went to visit the Ice Hotel, which is built around October using the water from the nearby river!

Then it was time to travel onto Inari, Finland, for Christmas. The temperature dropped to -30°C, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the outdoor activities: ice fishing, tobagganing, playing cricket in the snow (we moved to indoor cricket after losing the the ball in the snow!), participating in the Finnish tradition of jumping in the ice lake and the highlight: seeing the Northern Lights which was magical watching the green glow that danced through the sky!

Heading south to Helsinki we stopped at a reindeer farm and the arctic circle, and when we got to Helsinki, the temperature was 1°C, which felt warm after -30°C! It was an amazing trip, and one I would definitely do again!
Awesome kate! Welcome! :) Temperature dropped to -30°C... Oh My God! :O
What is the average temperature in New Zealand in the winter?
Thanks Renan, yep -30°C was really cold! In my hometown (Wellington) it's usually 10°C, but when the storms come in we get snow on the mountains there and its probably between 0-5°C, the further south you go the colder it gets, it can go below 0°C sometimes. I bet Brazil is much warmer, what is it like where you live?
Nice Kate! Here in the North Shore of Sao Paulo it's usually 17º C in the winter and more than 35º C in the summer! :D
cool, sounds good for enjoying the surf :)
