Hiking at Taughannock Falls
Hiking leading to an incredible waterfall in Taughannock Falls State Park
HikingTaughannock Falls State Park is located in the town of Ulysses in Tompkins County, New York. Giving name to the park, Taughannock Falls has a drop of 215 feet (66 meters).
I had the opportunity to visit it in the summer, but I think the fall is the most beautiful season to go there… Trees bursting into red, orange, and yellow colors are at least amazing.
The name has several possible origins, all related to Native Americans’ origins. The best known suggests that the name is derived from a combination of terms meaning "great fall in the woods".
The Park offers hiking and nature trails, camping and picnicking. The trail - whose map you can see here - is super easy. It is well signposted for most of distance, with large trails, stairs with handrails, and trashcans along the way. It is a good place to get in touch with nature, and please both eyes and soul with beautiful scenery.
