Recently, I was researching about models of drones for outdoor activities and found the DJI Mini 3 Pro, the new model released on March 10 by DJI. So, I’m sharing some information for anyone interested.
For those who love taking photos and videos of adventures, a drone is a great resource to capture different angles of landscapes. In my opinion, some characteristics are very important to buy a drone for outdoor adventures like: weight, autonomy, and dimensions.
Weight
The first spec that caught my eye was the weight of the DJI Mini 3 Pro, it has only 249 grams, including battery, propellers, and a microSD card. This is amazing when you need to carry it inside your backpack by long distances.
Flight Autonomy
The DJI Mini 3 Pro’s flight autonomy is 34 minutes on the basic battery (included with DJI purchase) and 47 minutes if you upgrade to Intelligent Flight Battery Plus (Sold separably).
Time to charge the battery: 64 minutes for Intelligent Flight Battery and 101 minutes for Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. Both using DJI 30W USB-C charger with the battery mounted to the aircraft).
Dimensions
When the drone is folded the dimension is 145 mm of length, 90 mm of width, and 62 mm of height. When it is unfolded with propellers the dimension increases to 251 mm of length, 326 mm of width, and 70 mm of height.
The photos below show the dimension of the drone in relation to a hand. It's nice not to take up too much volume in the backpack.
Other features that caught my attention were the Tri-Directional Obstacle Sensing and the Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS 4.0), which help the pilot to automatically avoid obstacles on the flight and the Focus Track that helps you to follow the subject during recording.
Official Release Vídeo
It is impressive for those who followed the beginning of drones (very expensive) to know that we have resources like this, with great quality for a good price. The price of drones has been dropping every year. (But, it is not too cheap yet! 😅)
Price: U$ 759 (When I published this article)
The DJI Mini 3 Pro seemed like a good option considering the cost benefit. If anyone has had hands-on experience with the drone let me know in the comments below.
