When we pratice outdoor activities it's normal to deal with different weather conditions. The Three-Layer System provide us a way to keep comfortable in high or lower temperature or even in bad weather like wind, rain, or snow.
How it works?
The technique suggests three different kind of clothes with differing purposes. Depending on the weather conditions you can change and combine these clothes to keep you comfortable.
First Layer or Base Layer
The first layer is responsible to keep your body dry, it takes the sweat out using a fast dry fabric. This layer can also have UV protection.
We use this layer when it is sunny or the temperature is hot.
Type of Clothes: T-shirt or Long Sleeve of Dri-Fit or other synthetic material.
Base Layer
Second Layer or Mid Layer
The second layer is responsible to keep the body temperature. These clothes must guarantee that our body will keep warm even in lower temperatures.
Type of Clothes: Down Jackets, Fleece or Polar Tech
Mid Layer
Third Layer or Outer Layer
The third layer is responsible to protect our body from wind, rain, and snow. The clothes also must protect the down layers from these bad weather conditions.
Type of Clothes: Waterproof Jacket or Windbreaker Jacket
Outer Layer
Conclusion
Carrying these three kinds of clothes in an easy access in your backpack, you can quickly put on or take off layers to keep comfortable in different weather conditions and, in this way, enjoy your trip better.
I hope this technique can help beginners enjoy their adventure more comfortable and safer.
